Why KeyboardCNC

Built for the custom keyboard community.

We've machined cases for designers running 50-unit group buys and one-off heirloom builds. Our setup is tuned for the tight tolerances, weight specs, and finish quality this hobby demands.

// 01

Tolerance That Holds the Stack

±0.005mm linear precision means top/bottom case halves mate without gaps. Plate fitment is exact. No sanding, no shimming.

// 02

Anodize, E-coat, PVD In-House

Type II/III anodizing for color consistency across batch runs. PVD coating for premium finishes. Powder coat for durability. All matched to RAL or Pantone references.

// 03

1 Unit to 500-Unit GB Runs

Prototype your design first. Then scale to your group buy without changing vendors. Same machines, same operators, consistent results from unit 1 to 500.

FAQ

What designers usually ask.

If your question isn't here, send it via the form below — we'll answer in the quote reply.

Do you work with one-off prototypes, or only group-buy quantities?
Both. Our MOQ is 1 unit. Most designers prototype 1–3 units before committing to a 50–500 unit GB run. Same machines, same finishes — the prototype represents what production will look like.
How tight are anodizing color matches across a batch run?
We anodize in-house with controlled bath chemistry. Color delta-E typically under 2 across a 100-unit batch when matched to a Pantone or RAL reference. We can run a color sample for approval before full batch.
Can you handle weight inserts and assembly?
Yes. We machine the case and weight separately, then assemble (press-fit, bonded, or screw-mounted depending on design). Brass, copper, tungsten, or stainless inserts are standard. We also do polishing and PVD on weights.
What file formats and tolerances do I need to provide?
STEP (.stp/.step) is preferred. IGES, DWG, DXF also accepted. PDF with dimensions for tolerance callouts. If you only have a sketch, we can do CAD reverse-engineering as a paid service.
Do you sign NDAs and protect designs?
Yes — NDA available before quote. Files are stored on access-controlled drives. We don't share designs with other clients and don't reuse tooling on competing projects.
What's the cost difference between aluminum and titanium cases?
Titanium is roughly 4–6× the material cost of aluminum and machines slower (longer cycle time). Expect titanium cases to land 3–5× the price of equivalent aluminum, depending on geometry. Send the STEP for an exact quote.
